Why Pain Free is so elusive
Living pain free and fully functional seems like an obstacle that can’t be overcome for way to many of you; roughly 130 million Americans and roughly 1 billion people world wide. You seek medical care of various specialists. You try all different types of medications. You try different procedures including injections. You try alternative forms of treatment and yet you remain in pain with no real ability to perform your daily activities. As time persists, hopelessness, anxiety and frustration develop and these feelings become harder to bear then the original pain.
The pain and emotional baggage that goes along without being able to resolve the pain begins to splinter your relationships with family, friends and coworkers. You find it difficult to sustain your job or raise your kids or even wake up in the morning with the horrible feeling that this is like Groundhog Day and today will always be just like yesterday. For some it may begin to feel like there is no solution to this problem and life may simply not be worth living.
Diagnostic tests don’t lead to becoming Pain Free
For most what is lacking is getting the right diagnosis. Globally the medical system uses diagnostic tests like MRIs to identify the cause of pain. The system is based on the assertion that if you are having symptoms and a structural variation is identified like a herniated disc, stenosis or arthritis, this must be the cause of those symptoms. This theory is known as correlative theory or junk science. The principle holds that if you were to open your front door at the time the sun rises you can then assert that opening your front door causes the sun to rise.
Clearly this is not possible. To provide a little substance to the discussion. Here is a link to the first MRI study every performed on those with absolutely no lower back pain. https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/nejm199407143310201. The conclusion is as follows: On MRI examination of the lumbar spine, many people without back pain have disk bulges or protrusions but not extrusions. Given the high prevalence of these findings and of back pain, the discovery by MRI of bulges or protrusions in people with low back pain may frequently be coincidental.
Another study performed on people without any pain at the hip region is shown here. https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.1177/0363546512462124. The conclusion is as follows: Magnetic resonance images of asymptomatic participants revealed abnormalities in 73% of hips, with labral tears being identified in 69% of the joints. A strong correlation was seen between participant age and early markers of cartilage degeneration such as cartilage defects and subchondral cysts.
Clearly, structural variations can be found in people with no pain in extremely high percentages so therefore it becomes hard to conclude that the same structural variations are causing the pain when experienced. Doesn’t make more sense that another tissue is creating the symptoms and the structural variations just happen to exist in the same area?
An alternative means to becoming Pain Free
The Yass Method sits outside the medical establishment. It does not use diagnostic testing as the primary means of identifying the cause of pain. It interprets the body’s presentation of symptoms to identify the tissue in distress eliciting the very symptoms being experienced. It has shown that in more than 98% of cases the cause of pain is muscular. These types of causes do not show up on diagnostic tests and there is no medical specialist educated or trained to identify them.
Whether it is a muscle strained and emitting pain, pain at joint caused by a muscle weakness or imbalance leading to a misalignment of the joint surfaces, a muscle referring a symptom or a muscle straining and impinging on a nerve, these types of causes will not be able be diagnosed by most of the medical establishment. When identified properly, these types of causes can be resolved quickly and effectively with targeted progressive resistance exercise which is at the core of The Yass Method.
The great news is that The Yass Method can be obtained virtually in the comfort of your own home at a time that is convenient for you.
